Indigesti - Osservati Dall'Inganno [1986]

This is classic italian hardcore punk record from the golden days of italian punk history. Indigesti are all about fast hardcore punk songs driven by punk rock melody and snotty vocals. They were pretty much influenced by earlier italian bands such as Wretched, Negazione and Raw Power (they even had a split 7" record with Wretched where they sound pretty much just like their idols Wretched) and american hardcore bands (think early Bad Brains and RKL). On this LP Indigesti made the unique sound of their own. IMHO, this is the best italian hardcore punk record.

Vains - Selftitled 7" [1980]

77 style kbd punk. Their snotty gem School Jerks appeared on Killed by Death # 9 compilation. If you must know, Duff McKagan from Guns N' Roses and Velvet Revolver played drums in this band at the age of fifteen.

Vomit Pigs - Take One 7" [1978]

This is recorded back in 1978 in the wilds of conservative Texas jam-packed by intoxicated and degenerated rednecks. Primitive and raw punk rock straight outta East Texas. This is their debut and only single while there is some kind of reissue compilation (which includes lost tracks) titled Useless Eaters out there on Rave Up. Song Useless Eater also appeared on classic compilation Killed by Death # 10.

Mac Blackout - The Western Blue [2009]

Mac Blackout is the guy from FUNCTIONAL BLACKOUTS and DAILY VOID, two of the greatest sounding bands ever. He also sings in the new band on HOZAC - MICKEY which is also great. This is his third solo album out on FDH RECORDS. It's weird and it's catchy. Pure synth driven mind melting brilliance.

ED - Senza Ragione 7" [2009]

If you're into american hardcore bands such as RKL, B'last, Bad Brains or italian 80's bands in vein of Indigesti\Negazione you should dig this 7" record. I posted their previous record "Nailed to the board" LP a few months ago so you should give a listen to both of these records cause they both kick some serious ass. If anyone is interested i can post BanxThis! records (BxT! shared members with Ed and they were total Bad Brains\RKL worship). For Ed's "Nailed to the board" LP see here. These Bologna skate thrashers are italian's finest at the moment.

Nervous Eaters Singles

Boston's proto punk degenerates. Their song "Just Head" appeared on Kbd compilations and later these early singles have been covered by the Lazy Cowgirls, New Bomb Turks, Teengenerate, Vikings, Reatards and the RC5. They really reminded me of Iggy and the Stooges, MC5 and some early R n' R shit (think Link Wray).

Nasty Facts - Drive My Car 7" [1981]

The one and only release from NY's female fronted Nasty Facts. Well, they did release a cd EP two years ago but i don't count that. Who cares what some old farts are doing nowdays? This is one of the catchiest power pop singles in punk music that the history book forgot. It was out on Jimboco records and european pressing of this was out on 5th Column.

Regulations - To Be Me [2009]

Umeå time!

I guess REGULATIONS are among the best known Swedish hardcore bands these days. Some people love them and some people hate them. I find them highly enjoyable on every release they've done so far. Including their latest - TO BE ME. Out in november last year on DERANGED RECORDS [in USA] and NY VÅG/P.TRASH [in EUROPE], the new album brings us twelve new retro hardcore songs. BAGHDAD BEACH PARTY, IN THE SHADOW OF THE MALL and the closing track - DON'T BOTHER ME are the albums finest moments. Instant REGULATIONS classics. Yeah.

Red Cross - Red Cross 12" [1980]

This is the first self-titled EP from Red Cross who later changed their name to Redd Kross due to legal threats with a lawsuit from a International Red Cross. The Los Angeles hardcore band included Steve and Jeff McDonald, Ron Reyes (later in Black Flag) and Greg Hetson (of Circle Jerks' fame). Later, Reyes and Hetson left the band to join Circle Jerks and Black Flag while McDonald brothers completed the new lineup on their first full-length album Born Innocent.

Country influenced, Wisconsin's Goodnight Loving cleverly manage to mix fuzzy power pop tunes with southern americana sounds and outcome of their effort is incredible. Tokyo Electron - AZ 238 LP [2009]

Released on both FDH and Certified PR records, AZ 238 features ten tracks recorded back in 2007/2008 and this record is probably their last release (probably cuz Ryan Wong started Earthmen And Strangers and Tokyo Electron's drummer moved away). I like AZ 238 much more than Tokyo Electron's previous releases. Songs on this one are more textured, defined and i dig that psychedelic desert vibe this album brings. Also, you should listen to Ryan's band Earthmen And Strangers i mentioned before. Lovro posted their s\t record here.

Women - Women 7'' [2008]

Not to be mistaken with the shoegazy pop band of the same name from Canada this Philadelphia group plays trashy hardcore in the vein of DEAN DIRG and HENRY FIAT'S OPEN SORE. This is their first release on FDH RECORDS. Six dirty, fast and furious songs in just over ten minutes. Awesome record.

The band is currently finishing their first full length. Again on FDH RECORDS.

Freestone - Church\Bummer Bitch 7" [1978]

Freestone were bunch of LA hippies mocking punk rock movement from the late seventies and they recorded Bummer Bitch\Church as a joke. Freestone member Billy DeMoya explained all that here. While Bummer Bitch is one the best songs in that kbd style of shitty, sloppy and dumb punk rock, Church is pretty much just one long, undefined and boring song. Bummer Bitch appeared on the second in the series of Killed by Death compilations and is one of the most collectable punk 45s around.

"Bummer Bitch you make me sick, Bummer Bitch suck my dick"

Hitler SS & Tampax Split 7" [1978]

Loud and snotty italian kbd punk. This is one of the best early punk singles came out from the land of Italy. This is Hitler SS's only proper release ever while Tampax's first in their small amount of releases. Hitler SS really reminded me of early Buzzcocks and Dead Boys while Tampax are pretty much less melodic. Both bands appeared on classic Killed by Death compilations.

Chronick Sick - Cutest Band In Hardcore 12" [1982]

I doubt these guys were racist at all but they wrote some lyrics that caused some confusion ("Here Goes The Neighborhood"). Just like Angry Samoans, Lewd, Fuck Ups and Teenage Depression they wanted to provoke everybody so they put swastikas on their faces and make some sexist references in their lyrics but as i see it, all that was for the sake of shock values and with bunch of irony but who would really know? On this record Chronick Sick are more into exploring melodic side of punk rock then into american hardcore and i really like what they are doing here. Great record! And yeah, you can see some cool 12 inch inserts here at kbdrecords blog.

Sick Mormons - Why Does Shit Keep Falling From the Sky? [2009]

Now this is just awesome. The first EP by this Amsterdam band was all killer no filler and this one continues in the same way. Four perfect hardcore anthems for screwed up girls and boys. Sick Mormons are along with BRAT PACK one of my favourite "new" hardcore bands and I finally got my copy of the 7'' on a GEWAPEND BETON gig here in Zagreb a few weeks ago. They sound like all the best early so-cal bands [especially THE ADOLESCENTS] and are just as good. The songs have a darker vibe than the ones on the first EP but they sure don't lack the melody or the catchiness.

The EP is co-released by GUMMOPUNX and DEMONMANIA RECORDS. Get it from them.

Jay Reatard RIP

Jay passed away yesterday in his sleep at the age of 29. He was one of the most talented, sincere and dedicate artists in last decade. To me and probably to a lot of you guys his music ment much. Jay recorded 22 albums with his bands and projects and all over 100 releases in total and all that in just ten years. I was really into all of his stuff and especially Reatards and Lost Sounds. Watched Lost Sounds somewhere in 2004 and that was one of the most aggressive and dynamic shows i have ever seen. Still can't bealive this is for real. Reatard, you died too young, way too young. Rest in peace man. You will not be forgotten!!!

Here's the official statement from Jays's blog. You can also download unrelased cover of Nirvana's Frances Farmer Will Have Her Revenge On Seattle there.

The latest addition in Spits discography is amazing 7" record out on Slovenly. With no doubt i can say this one rivals their incredicle 19 Million A.C. EP single. On this one they even covered Pain's "I Hate Pain" from the classic punk rock "Battle Of The Bands" episode of C.H.i.P.s! You can watch that C.H.I.P.s! episode on youtube. See here.
