The Busy Signals - Busy Signals [2007]

THE BUSY SIGNALS are a girl fronted Chicago based power pop group formed in 2005 with members from CARBONAS, the KRUNCHIES and the TYRADES. And this, their debut full length record released on DIRTNAP RECORDS in 2007 was an instant power pop classic :D. Hits like PLASTIC GIRL, STEREO, GOT IT ALL WRONG and MATTER OF TIME make this one of my favorite records and I get back to it a lot. It's just so damn awesome and it makes me happy.

Prior to the full length they released a couple of singles on DOUCHEMASTER and SHIT SANDWICH RECORDS that are also great.

Mean Jeans - Are You Serious? [2009]

from BUDDYHEAD:

So every 10 or 15 years or so you get a band that takes the tired Ramone’s core formula and actually breathes fresh life into it. I’m talking bands such as Screeching Weasel, early Queers, Head, The Spits, Sloppy Seconds, and so on. Besides the bands that I just mentioned you have about a zillion clones of the same genre who just miss the mark or who just flat out suck. Well now we have one more band who does this formula justice and is here to save us from the ashes of our own depression. I am talking about a band that is gonna bring you back to the party make you drink till your stupid, pass out in your own vomit, and not feel bad about it the next day! The Mean Jeans are here to rescue you!

Out on DIRTNAP records. BUY IT NOW cause this is THE BEST RECORD OF THE YEAR. :D

Mean Jeans - License 2 Chill 7'' [2009]

from COLLECTIVE ZINE: Mean Jeans make no attempts to hide their influences on this 3 song 45, featuring songs such as "I Think U Stink". You can't really knock it, they do a fine job with the sound, dirtying it up a little and spitting out some great vocals into the bargain...
