Southside Stranglers - Strangle You 7'' [2010]

Second single from the best new band from the States. Kenny and Brandon from Government Warning are on vocals and guitar but Southside Stranglers are more into garage punk than GW. Even if the 80's american hardcore influences are present (Bad Brains, RKL, Dicks) SS really drawn influences from bands such as Pagans, Crime or Stooges. A-Side (Strangle You) really reminds me of some later Annihilation Time stuff while the B-Side (Daddy's Little Nightmare) is more faster and frantic. Sounds like Bad Brains would if they tried to cover Stooges as fast they could do it in the 80's. This is with no doubt the best hardcore punk band i've heard in last few years and I can't wait to hear songs from their first (rumored) LP. Get the demo tape here if you haven't heard it yet cause it's also a total ripper. SS demo tape was later reissued on Grave Mistake as Too Much TV 7".

Freestone - Church\Bummer Bitch 7" [1978]

Freestone were bunch of LA hippies mocking punk rock movement from the late seventies and they recorded Bummer Bitch\Church as a joke. Freestone member Billy DeMoya explained all that here. While Bummer Bitch is one the best songs in that kbd style of shitty, sloppy and dumb punk rock, Church is pretty much just one long, undefined and boring song. Bummer Bitch appeared on the second in the series of Killed by Death compilations and is one of the most collectable punk 45s around.

"Bummer Bitch you make me sick, Bummer Bitch suck my dick"

The UV Race - Malaria 7" [2009]

from SS Records:
""Four songs long, the UVs take their influences (X, Cramps, Electric Eels, VU, etc.) and smash them into something punk-like, spontaneous and fucking great. Captured on tape by Eddy Current guitarist Mikey Young"

Wizzard Sleeve - Make The World Go Away LP [2009]

from HOZAC RECORDS

"Just as the harrowing chill of summer's slow death drifts across the land, the skin-crawling death-punk masterpiece debut LP from Alabama's confederate glue-wave goth 'tards, Wizzard Sleeve hits the shelves and drags all the sinister vibrations from the ugly side of psychedelia right up front where it belongs. As their influences have cited, and the self-described trinity of Chrome, Crime and Creedence settles into place in your chemically damaged skull."

Out on HoZac.
