Sex Church - Sex Church 7" [2009]

from Weird Canada

"Canada’s modern-psychedelic scene is re-emerging, painted new colours and worshiping new Gods. Gone are the pretenses of 60s pop-lysergia; in its place we gladly fall before false idols and re-hashed idioms. And why not? When it’s done well, we put our minds on a true trip thru hell. Sex Church easily accomplishes this with their mix of doomy, pedantic guitar drones and gothic romanticism; parsing liturgy and psych in a bewildering and addictive way. The songs are long, depressing and mesmerizing; perfect musical beds for basement-evenings in your teenage vortex. And if that all made sense, they throw in a pop-punk ballad for the last minute of Dead End; nothing is ever too easy anymore."

Sedatives - Sedatives LP [2009]

from DERANGED

"SEDATIVES do it dark, desperate, and minimal. An archaic sound from the gothic ages of punk...when punk was catchy, but also dangerous. Going back to the three chord song, with downstrokes, vicious energy, and the two minute deadline. Sacred by the organ, it's night church in the post apocalyptic wasteland. Their first LP and follow-up to their debut EP on Going Gaga/P.Trash Records."

Buy it here. European press should be out on P.Trash.

Wizzard Sleeve - Make The World Go Away LP [2009]

"Just as the harrowing chill of summer's slow death drifts across the land, the skin-crawling death-punk masterpiece debut LP from Alabama's confederate glue-wave goth 'tards, Wizzard Sleeve hits the shelves and drags all the sinister vibrations from the ugly side of psychedelia right up front where it belongs. As their influences have cited, and the self-described trinity of Chrome, Crime and Creedence settles into place in your chemically damaged skull."

Out on HoZac.
