Catholic Guilt - Futile Attempts 7" (2014)

Yet another release by Doomtown Records I forgot to post here. Below is the press info for the release I wrote.

"Catholic Guilt are from Austria and play dense, discordant hardcore in 80's hardcore punk tradition. They are said to be measuring up with Poison Idea and Die Kreuzen when it comes to dashing off cogent, well-written songs that eloquently express the band's lack of interest in most of humanity. What’s more, they have plenty of chorus effect on the guitar, which reminds of early Hüsker Dü and many other bands from that era. Sickoids would be also a good reference if we speak about some new bands doing something similar."

Beside this 7", Catholic Guilt put out another 7" EP called "Cabin Fever" just a few months ago, as well as S/T LP and split 12" with their buddies INU from Spain.

Haute Couture - Demo 7" [2012]

USHC worship featuring Autistic Youth (PDX) drummer and Youth Avoiders guitarist Maxime. Somehow this slipped under my radar but this is some pretty good slab of retro hardcore. The 6-song demo was recorded while AY drummer was living in the France and eventually Shogun put this one out.

Gas Rag - Beats Off! [2014]

One of the best new bands from the USA broke up right before embarking on their first european tour and this is their latest effort. Beats Off! is equally good as their previous "Human Rights" 7inch EP and their killer demo from the 2012. If "Pick Your King", early Anti-Cimex, Totalitar, raw punk and european hardcore mean anything to you, you really need to hear this ugly savages obsessed with lightning-fast, frantic and aggressive execution. All killer no filler!!!

You can buy euro press of this 12" here.

When it comes to Jaibo! it's all about rock n' roll inspired hardcore punk. Purple Mercy - Purple Mercy LP [2009]

This record is pure masterpiece. It will be sure on my top 2009 list. Guys from PM are all about getting too high to die and worshiping Black Sabbath, Electric Wizard & Sleep while simultaneously fornicating with Black Flag (post-Damaged era) sound.

Grab your vinyl here. (It's on sale!!!)

Love Potion - Ejaculator 7" [2009]

from LOW CUT

"Remember that early 90s notorious HK goreflick where an Ebola-infected Anthony Wong goes on a deranged killing spree? Well, that's sorta the image I was left with after listening to these 8 brutal tracks. Over-the-top aggressive speedy hardcore that sets new standards for the K-town scene, can't really remember when I experienced such a sickass explosion of desperate energy. The very best of 80's Boston and Japanese hardcore seem to be channelled through Love Potion like a succubus with an unhealthy deathwish."

Out on Adult Crash and Too Circle (japanese reissue disc with some bonus tracks).

Night Fever - New Blood 12" [2009]

from LOW CUT

"THIS IS COPENHAGEN, MAAAAAN!!! Yup, notorious k-townsters Night Fever have finally released their debut 12" after spreading havoc for some time. Muscular, pissed off, confident, defiant and macho-esque hardcore to the nines. Think early 80s Boston HC fornicating with Zero Boys, Poison Idea and Void. In fact first time I've heard this I was thinking of a more cockrock-ish and slickly produced Void. The 8 tracks possess aggression, speed and melody, amazing guitar shredding from Matthias, and Salomon's impressive voice that Danzig would kill for."

Get it thru Adult Crash.

Human Mess - Follow You Home [2009]

from GOING UNDERGROUND RECORDS:

Human Mess returns with 12 in your face headsmashers on this 45 rpm 12". Witness the sheer brutality here; this is one to break your neck to. Stripped down, totally raw hardcore punk the way it was meant to be captured. The Recording is Raw, Loud, and intense as all hell. Let the Violence Commence! Definetly a must for fans of early Poison Idea, Discharge and maybe even Angry Samoans.

Out on NO WAY RECORDS.
